Mother cat makes a special dinner of fish sandwiches and milk. All dig in except the blue cat, who refuses dinner, a cupcake (``Yum-Yum''), and a bedtime story. When his mother asks if he is sorry for the way he acted, he says ``no.'' Since she ``looked worried'' and ``also looked very sad,'' the cat seemingly makes amends until the final page when mother says that he must be sleepy, and he jumps up, shouting ``NO!'' This is a story of manipulation at its worst. The language is flat, especially when read aloud. This reviewer says ``NO!'' Marianne Pilla, formerly at Allard K. Lowenstein Library of Long Beach, N.Y.
